Jo and Hoagy Celebrate 50 Years of Marriage

Ginger and I made a trip to Jacksonville this past weekend to surprise Mom and Dad as they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on the 28th! 

Gin and I took the red-eye into Orlando (the most direct and inexpensive) then drove up to Jax, placing us on Mom and Dad’s doorstep promptly at 9:00am Saturday Morning (the day before the official day).  We rang the bell and waited… the expression on Mom’s face was priceless!

We spent the rest of Saturday helping my Sister and Brother in Law and many other volunteers prepping for the reception on Sunday.  We ended up having over 200 people in attendance at their auspicious occasion!  It was great!  I’ll have more pics to share in the next post, but I’m a bit pressed for time right now.  But to put is simply…

The Climate Bill… Who’s to Blame?

The House Climate Change Bill (AKA Cap and Trade) just passed the House in a 219-212 vote. So who’s to blame for this monstrosity?  Not the Democrats.

The Democrats did exactly what what is to be expected of them, lie cheat and steal to attain a ram it to the American Tax Payer bill.  I wonder, if this is such a great bill, why would so much back room dealing be necessary to get the necessary votes to pass it? (details here at Politico).

So if this proceeds to pass the Senate (keep your fingers crossed for the more sane legislative body to knock this down) the people we will have to blame are not the Democrats,they are simply leveraging the power they have been granted by the American People to advance their warped agenda.  The folks to blame in my mind are the 8 Republikans (in name only) who voted for this bill (which I’m sure not one of them read before voting on it!)  These 8 Republicans should be banned from receiving a single dime of reelection funds from the National Organization, and in these districts I highly recommend a competent, thoughtful, conservative run against these traitors.

Remember that vote count folks… could it have been… maybe 211-220? 

Probably not, I’m sure many of those 44 “save my ass” Democrats that voted against this bill (Some because it wasn’t Communist and Economically destructive enough!… paging Mr. Kucinich!) would have succumbed to Queen Nancy’s pressure to tow the party line.

I’m all for less pollution and less dependency on foreign sources of energy, but rail roading something like this bill through is not the way. 

Nancy’s words encouraging passage of this bill?  “Remember these 4 words, Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, Jobs!  Let’s vote!”

Arrogant Box of Rocks!

I have NEVER been a fan of Barbra “Box of Rocks” Boxer, and here is yet another reason why!

Arrogant twit!  In formal response by anyone in the military the appropriate answer is “Yes Ma’am” or “No Ma’am”!  Her request to be addressed as “Senator” is ok in initial circumstances, but once everyone is aware of her “POSITION” requiring a One Star General to refer to her as “Senator” constantly in his inquisition is nothing more than she feeling threatened by the superior intellect and track record seated before her.

She would have been better off just saying… “Excuse me General, I would appreciate it if you please refer to me as ‘Asshole’ I’ve spent years earning that title!”

Obama Fears Our Navy?

In a note in the Washington Times, it appears that Midshipmen and Officers at this year’s Graduation and Commissioning Ceremonies at the United States Naval Academy were prohibited from wearing their swords as a protection measure for President Obama.

No… seriously… THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF is concerned that his Military may have weapons that threaten him!

Graduating midshipmen of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis are being told in writing to leave at home or in their vehicles all "ceremonial swords" and anything else "that might be considered a weapon or a threat by screeners" for Friday's outdoor commencement ceremonies featuring an address by President Barack Obama.

Inside the Beltway has obtained the academy's list of prohibited items for this year's graduation exercises, which, besides ceremonial swords, includes umbrellas.

Asinine!

I did some investigating and… Yep… No Mameluke on the Marine General or Sword on the Admiral in the following image from the ceremonies. Understand that in formal Naval Ceremonies (even in choker whites) wearing a sword is optional for the Naval Officer, however, for the Marine it is a “Requirement” as the Mameluke Sword is part of the Dress Uniform!

 

So it got me to wondering if this was some sort of muckraking pointing to Barak Obama as having the same fear as King James I…Fear of Unsheathed Swords.

So I dug through my photos of another recent ceremony involving a formal Navy occasion and hosting not just the current President (at that time) George W. Bush but also his father former President George H.W. Bush  (also present were the Vice President and the Secretary of State), the commissioning of the USS George HW Bush (CVN-77).  And what did I see?  But any number of swords completely within swinging range of any of the VIP’s and honored guests.  (See the images below of Capt. O’Flaherty wearing his sword while standing immediately next to the President of the United States.) Were any of VIP’s concerned about these men possessing such threatening carving implements.  NOT A CHANCE!  They were honored to be in the presence of such heroes and trust these men and women with their lives and freedom!

When will you all have had enough?

According to Bloomberg:

Democrats Weigh Health Mandate as Obama Urges Taxing Wealthy

President Barack Obama wants Congress to consider taxing the wealthy instead of workers to pay for a health-care overhaul, as House Democrats discuss a plan to require health insurance for most Americans. 

This is getting to be sickening.  Oh… we’ll just do anything we damn well please and have the rich pay for it! 

Anyone notice that the Connotative Definition of “The Rich” is becoming a lower and lower net worth?  I don’t know about you, but when I was growing up “Rich” was usually associated with a “Millionaire” today the current Administration and their media lapdogs seem to define “Rich” as anyone making a quarter of that!!!  (or a Republican!)

According to the 16th Amendment of the Constitution,

The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

Who’s brilliant idea was this?  Let’s tax our citizenry, unfairly into oblivion, so we can create a well meaning communist state where everyone is taken care of by the government whether they are a citizen or not!

Enough is enough, ever since the socialists in today’s media (meaning News Organizations and Hollywood) started ignoring the strength of the individual to set one’s own destiny, and began worshiping every special interest feel-good infinitely expensive social program to ease their guilty consciences about making so much unearned money, hypocritically screaming that we are a Plutocracy and that a socially conscious government is needed to “Make Everything Fair and Equitable!”  we have begun our down hill slide to the manure pit we find ourselves in today.

I’ve got news for you Ignorant Whale Worshiping Turds!  Fairness is NOT the responsibility of this or any other government!!!!  And healthcare for everyone is not the responsibility of the government either!  Where people got this misguided idea is beyond me. 

YOU are RESPONSIBLE for YOU!!!! Not the Government!!!  Empowering the government will only weaken you as an individual!  But I guess that is what you want.

Everyone keeps referring to “The Government” as some magnanimous, omnipotent overlord that will save us from ourselves.  It is anything but!  The government is made up primarily of thousands of narcissistic arrogant power-hungry authoritarian ignorant arrogant selfish humans!  I say primarily because I’m still not sure exactly WHAT Nancy Pelosi is but “Human” is questionable!

If you think fairness will be doled out by “The Government” like treats at Halloween, I am saddened by your naiveté, and disheartened about our prospect for a stable and successful future.

YOU are responsible for YOU!!!!! Repeat after me!  OBAMA does not know better than me how to take care of me!!!!!!!

We as Americans need to find a return to LESS GOVERNMENT intervention into our lives, not more.  These elected Narcissists are not our salvation!  It is impossible for them to care for all or even one of us! All they want is their own job, where they get to dictate terms to we the masses!  This is OUR NATION people!  Not Obama’s, or Nancy’s or George’s!  This government is to act at the behest of We the People, for the people.

JFK beseeched us to “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country!”  If Jack was the intellectually honest man I’d like to believe he was, he would be outraged at where we have gone as a nation of ignorance.

But for we ignorant, to think for an instant that those elected political figures’ interests are anything but their own power, and that “Obama be Praised” we’ll all be provided for because it will only cost the “Rich” whoever they are to make this happen… well we will shortly see the demise of the United States of America as a powerful nation.  Which will be wholly satisfying to the Democrats and the Communists and the Socialists who live here in the United States and yet worship Europe and the UN as something more intelligent and promising.  For it is these elitist scumbags that view the United States as two types of classes, Academic Enlightened or the Rednecks that must be repressed. 

These so-called and negatively branded “Rich” of the United States made this  country!  They are not evil, they are not unethical, they are going to get tired of being the TEET of the American Government, and as such will find a way to leave this great nation to it’s own demise.  The rich can be counted on for taking care of themselves… they always have and always will.  If you think this makes them immoral or unethical, I pity you, you are an envious idiot. 

We should all strive to be happy and content in our lives, but know that LIFE IS NOT FAIR and no amount of government intervention can make it fair!  If you want to be rich, go be rich!  Get an education, invent something, start a business, work hard for someone… but take care of yourself, your family and your friends in that order, and you will reap what you sow.

If I were wealthy in the United States (Making over $250,000 per year) I would seriously be considering moving myself, my family, and any of my businesses to a more “individual” friendly country that celebrated “Limited Government” and protected free thought and banned the phrase “Politically Correct”.  Oh and banned Al Gore too!

Double D’s Two Mile High Birthday

My buddy Derek Davis (AKA “Double D”… Initials folks not a reference to his flap jacks) is one of those guys who really enjoys life to the fullest, he is humorous, fun loving and dedicated to his family and friends.  He’s one of those guys you always want to invite to your party.  Well today was Derek’s day to invite a bunch of us to HIS party!  No not the Communist Party… despite the hat, and his graduating from University of Colorado in the Peoples Republic of Boulder!  His Birthday Party!

In normal Derek fashion (hmm… normal… Derek… Uh… usually these are two words that don’t collide in the same sentence… but work with me here people) he threw his Birthday in true Colorado style!  At the “Beach!”

This is not your normal “Beach!”  primarily cuz one we’re in Colorado, not California… and this beach is about 2 miles up over the 11,990 foot Loveland pass at the base of Arapahoe Basin Ski Area.  Yep this is the last weekend for the ski season here in Colorado, and A-Basin is the place to be.

 

So a bunch of us made the trek to welcome our friend to the fun of 39!  And had a great time enjoying the vistas, the beer, the music, and the laughter!  It was a good time to be had by all.

Now this being a party and all, Derek served us up some really tasty Bratwursts along with the usual finger food fare.  Then to finish up a few of the stalwarts, Derek and a few of his friends had a Shot.  But again… it’s Derek… so this ain’t normal either.  Five… count ‘em FIVE!  Shot glasses are glued, screwed, nailed, or attached in some way to… yep a SKI!  Each glass is filled with the imbiber’s favorite elixir and then all five participants ally-ooop!  Here, it’s better in photo’s, see below…

48 Degrees!!!!  That was the HIGH! today here at Casa De Carmichael.  With a steady rain sometimes even heavy.
