Blacks Suffering More Unemployment than Others

In an Obama Administration?… How can this be? 

Here’s the disturbing figures.

The current October Unemployment figures for all of the United States as reported by the BLS (Bureau of Labor and Statistics).

  • October 2009 Unemployment Rate (All):       10.2%
  • October 2009 Unemployment Rate (Blacks)  15.7%
  • October 2009 Unemployment Rate (White)    9.5%

Year to date averages:

  • YTD 2009 Unemployment Rate (All):       8.3%
  • YTD 2009 Unemployment Rate (Blacks)  14.5%
  • YTD 2009 Unemployment Rate (White)    9.1%

WHAT’S UP WITH THAT!

Tired of the racism and oppression as usual, Blacks overwhelmingly voted for Barack Obama in the 2008 Election, Voting into office a “New Hope” for equality (if not preference) making up for long time negative trends in historically poor employment statistics among blacks. [from Pew Research]

According to the exit polls in last year's presidential election, the candidate preference of non-white voters was distinctly different from that of white voters. Nearly all (95%) black voters cast their ballot for Democrat Barack Obama. Among Latino voters, 67% voted for Obama while 31% voted for Republican John McCain. Among Asian voters, 62% supported Obama and 35% voted for McCain. In contrast, white voters supported McCain (55%) over Obama (43%).

That 95% figure express many ideas, from Blacks having the impression of disenfranchisement over the years and wanting to change that, to excitement over the opportunity to elect “the first ‘Black’ President, to possibly simple race dominating over substance. (Trust me, if 95% of  the white population voted for a specific ‘White’ candidate over a opponent of color, there would be SCREAMS of racism non-stop… Hell, I’d be one screaming!).

What prompted me to write this story is an article I read in the Washington Post calling attention to the plight of young blacks in this troubled economy.

These days, 24-year-old Delonta Spriggs spends much of his time cooped up in his mother's one-bedroom apartment in Southwest Washington, the TV blaring soap operas hour after hour, trying to stay out of the streets and out of trouble, held captive by the economy. As a young black man, Spriggs belongs to a group that has been hit much harder than any other by unemployment.

Joblessness for 16-to-24-year-old black men has reached Great Depression proportions -- 34.5 percent in October, more than three times the rate for the general U.S. population. And last Friday, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that unemployment in the District, home to many young black men, rose to 11.9 percent from 11.4 percent, even as it stayed relatively stable in Virginia and Maryland.

His work history, Spriggs says, has consisted of dead-end jobs. About a year ago, he lost his job moving office furniture, and he hasn't been able to find steady work since. This summer he completed a construction apprenticeship program, he says, seeking a career so he could avoid repeating the mistake of selling drugs to support his 3-year-old daughter.

Certainly this is not an isolated case…

"I think we're labeled for not wanting to do nothing -- knuckleheads or hardheads," said Spriggs, whose first name is pronounced Dee-lon-tay. "But all of us ain't bad."

You know he is right.  In this new era of Hope and Change he has every right to expect a job. It was all but promised to him by President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and all the other “Barack Straps” – My term for “Obama Supporters”.

It got me to looking… if things are this bad for Blacks under Barack… they must have been horrendous under those  “Bastards” Bush & Cheney!  Right?

Back to the BLM figures…

That can’t be right!  We elected a man who knows!  We’ve had a stimulus!  There has not been a 9/11 attack!  What that hell?

About that there “Stimulus”:  I stopped by the blog “Blacks 4 America” to see if I could find some comments and opinion favored by Greg Jones and his readers.

Obama "now has a bill to sign that will create millions of good-paying jobs and help families and businesses stay afloat financially," said Sen. Max Baucus, a Montana Democrat who was a leading architect of the measure. 

Uh… Yeah…

Actually, screw that… you can go anywhere and read how wonderful this Democrat Stimulus is and how it will save the economy… let’s just for the moment ignore the resulting “REALITY” shall we?  The post that made me laugh hysterically till I cried was Barack’s speech at his signing of the Stimulus Package (AKA Porkulus Package)… In case you might…  ya know… hold someone accountable for his rhetoric… Careful… accountability can be dangerous kids. (emphasis mine)

Today I have signed into law H.R. 1, the "American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009." The Act provides a direct fiscal boost to help lift our Nation from the greatest economic crisis in our lifetimes and lay the foundation for further growth. This recovery plan will help to save or create as many as three to four million jobs by the end of 2010, the vast majority of them in the private sector. It will make the most significant investment in America 's roads, bridges, mass transit, and other infrastructure since the construction of the interstate highway system. It will make investments to foster reform in education, double renewable energy while fostering efficiency in the use of our energy, and improve quality while bringing down costs in healthcare. Middle-class families will get tax cuts and the most vulnerable will get the largest increase in assistance in decades.

The situation we face could not be more serious. We have inherited an economic crisis as deep and as dire as any since the Great Depression. Economists from across the spectrum have warned that failure to act quickly would lead to the disappearance of millions of more jobs and national unemployment rates that could be in the double digits. I want to thank the Congress for coming together around this hard-fought compromise. No one policy or program will solve the challenges we face right now, nor will this crisis recede in a short period of time. However, with this Act we begin the process of restoring the economy and making America a stronger and more prosperous Nation.

My Administration will initiate new, far-reaching measures to help ensure that every dollar spent in this historic legislation is spent wisely and for its intended purpose. The Federal Government will be held to new standards of transparency and accountability. The legislation includes no earmarks. An oversight board will be charged with monitoring our progress as part of an unprecedented effort to root out waste and inefficiency. This board will be advised by experts -- not just Government experts, not just politicians, but also citizens with years of expertise in management, economics, and accounting.

So much depends on what we do at this moment. This is not about the future of my Administration. This effort is about the future of our families and communities, our economy and our country. We are going to move forward carefully and transparently and as effectively as possible because so much is on the line. That is what we have already begun to do -- drafting this plan with a level of openness for which the American people have asked and that this situation demands.

This is Your Climate Warming God?

Al “the sky is falling’ Gore, may not be an idiot, but he certainly plays one on TV.

In a “Tonight Show” interview with Conan O’Brian, Al is on his usual save the planet with efficient energy sources soapbox… actually a noble cause… when he makes a claim that the earth’s mantle is “Several Million Degrees… at 2 kilometers or so down.” (tolerate the video below for about 40 seconds and hear it for yourself).

This is POWERPOINT AL GORE!  This is the spokes-model for the Green Generation!  “Several million degrees!”??? 

Really?  Several?  (several being more than 2 usually…)

Million?  (that’s like a hundred thousand 10’s!)

Even using the Kelvin scale the earth’s mantle is estimated between 773 to 1173 degrees.  I’d go on to express that “any 8th grader could tell you that” but that just ain’t true, knowing the state of our public education system.  Which is all the worse, most of the American public is clueless when it comes to science, the scientific method, and quantifiable facts, and wouldn’t begin to realize when they were being manipulated by self-serving charlatans.

God, we’re a bunch of dolts!

Hell, the innermost core of the Earth is estimated at only 7,000 degrees K! Ya know, like only a tenth the temperature of a cup of Starbucks coffee.

Al wasn’t generalizing, in a humorous way, like saying GaZillions of degrees implying it’s “Really really hot!” he was trying to issue a persuasive argument.  This is precisely why Al refuses all invitations by legitimate man-made-global-warming scientific skeptics, he would lose… terribly…  first the arguments, then his perceived credibility, then his speaking tours (where he charges GaZillions of dollars each time!), and then his financing.  Then who would pay his electric bill?

Look, I’m all for alternative forms of energy being investigated and utilized, and the cleaner the better.  And the less dependent we are on the Middle East and other Countries for our supply the better too.  But if you are going to make claims, any claims as an “expert” you better damn well have your FACTS right!  It lends credibility to your argument.  But then again, considering your audience… I guess facts are just an Inconvenient Truth.

Wow… Recorded 45 Years Ago… The More Things Change…

Seriously… Well worth the listen!  Spooky how relevant it rings today!

45 years ago today, this relative newcomer to politics, gave an eloquent electrifying speech that has gone down in history simply as “The Speech”. 

We are at war with the most dangerous enemy that has ever faced mankind in his long climb from the swamp to the stars, and it has been said if we lose that war, and in doing so lose this way of freedom of ours, history will record with the greatest astonishment that those who had the most to lose did the least to prevent its happening. Well, I think it's time we ask ourselves if we still know the freedoms that were intended for us by the Founding Fathers.

Not too long ago two friends of mine were talking to a Cuban refugee, a businessman who had escaped from Castro, and in the midst of his story one of my friends turned to the other and said, "We don't know how lucky we are." And the Cuban stopped and said, "How lucky you are! I had someplace to escape to." In that sentence he told us the entire story. If we lose freedom here, there is no place to escape to. This is the last stand on Earth. And this idea that government is beholden to the people, that it has no other source of power except to sovereign people, is still the newest and most unique idea in all the long history of man's relation to man. This is the issue of this election. Whether we believe in our capacity for self-government or whether we abandon the American revolution and confess that a little intellectual elite in a far-distant capital can plan our lives for us better than we can plan them ourselves.

You and I are told increasingly that we have to choose between a left or right, but I would like to suggest that there is no such thing as a left or right. There is only an up or down--up to a man's age-old dream, the ultimate in individual freedom consistent with law and order--or down to the ant heap totalitarianism, and regardless of their sincerity, their humanitarian motives, those who would trade our freedom for security have embarked on this downward course.

This is not about Reagan, it is about Conservative, Liberty-loving, ideas.  In this speech we can identify many of today’s issues… tell me we’ve learned from history…

Well… Duh… The Definition of “Rushing” into a Decision is Now Long Since Passed!

President Obama saying

"While I will never hesitate to use force to protect the American people or our vital interests, I also promise you this—and this is very important as we consider our next steps in Afghanistan: I will never rush the solemn decision of sending you into harm's way," Obama said Monday during a visit to Naval Air Station Jacksonville. "I won't risk your lives unless it is absolutely necessary."

Everyone one who believes this, stand on your head.

What’s amazing is how much Obama loves to promise to do what he has already done… yep that’s a toughy…

“I also promise you this… I will never rush the solemn decision of sending you into harm's way…”

Ok Mr. President, you’ve satisfied that requirement… now can you please make a decision about sending them into harms way?

Obama, if he is to be President ‘Presiding over 2 wars’ as he keeps plaintively pointing out to anyone willing to listen, has damned well had plenty of opportunity to identify exactly what the UNITED STATES strategy (not his strategy) should be to prosecute the war in Afghanistan. 

The man in charge of prosecuting the effort in Afghanistan is General McChrystal, and he has (unlike the administration) taken a hard serious knowledgeable look at the situation on the ground and has made his recommendation… He made it over 6 weeks ago! 

And yet the decision maker continues to vote “Present” at a time when a real decision is required!  All because the mis-leader-in-chief has no idea what the goals of our war in Afghanistan are… or should be.  This is not Bush’s war, or Obama’s war… it is AMERICA’S WAR!  We decided it was the right thing to do back in 2001, we rallied around it, and even when Iraq reared its ugly head and polarized our political spectrum even further, both sides continued to point toward Afghanistan as the theater that required our just focus.  But now that our nation has elected a Community Organizer to lead us in our nation’s toughest decisions, we are getting exactly what should have been expected, platitudes and indecision.

Obama fired McChrystal’s predecessor, Gen. David McKiernan because he didn’t “do the job”.

Well, in order to fire someone for not living up to your expectations, you might want to be clear on what YOUR expectations are.  Has anyone out there heard, or can you please identify what BHO’s goals are in winning the war?  Or is his goal simply “Ending the War” like we did in Vietnam.  Afghanistan is NOT!!! Repeat NOT!!! another Vietnam, but if this indecisive nature of the administration persists… It still can be!

We left Vietnam in a shambles, we were tired, we lost our focus, we were embarrassed, so we turned our back on people who trusted us to do what was right.  We did it all wrong, from engineering, to tactics, to strategy, to execution, to leadership.  Fortunately the men in uniform, learned countless lessons regarding errors in tactics, equipment, strategy and execution that they continually work to insure are not repeated.  One of those leaders is heading the charge identifying a strategy and outlining methods to succeed.  However the transitive “leadership” in Washington has a severe problem in learning from hard lessons we learned about meddling indecisive politicians completely unfamiliar with, Sun Tzu, Von Clausewitz, Pershing, Alexander, and Epictetus. 

The classic indicators?  The perceived leaders have meetings where the participants agree to…  meet again.

Obama's visit to the naval air station came after he convened another in a series of White House war council sessions with about a half-dozen Cabinet officials and other top advisers earlier Monday in Washington amid Republican criticism that he is taking too long to choose his next move. The White House Situation Room session focused on the cooperation between U.S. military and civilian efforts in Afghanistan, White House officials said. Another session may be held later this week.

And to tell you how seriously the administration is taking the WAR fighting in Afghanistan, the Three… COUNT’EM THREE!!!… Purple Heart winner John F’n Kerry has been dispatched to go express our non-definitive position to our “Puppet” in Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai.

Sen. John Kerry, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman who was the White House's point man during last week's tense talks with Afghan President Hamid Karzai, praised commanding Gen. Stanley McChrystal but said his plan for adding troops in Afghanistan "goes too far, too fast."

What? We need to go Too Short… Too Slowly?

Kerry's stance would aim for a modest increase in American forces, treading middle ground between Republicans who have said Obama would put soldiers and the country at risk by rejecting McChrystal's larger request and anti-war Democrats who question whether the United States already has taken on too much in Afghanistan.

Mr. Kerry, it is not our desire to “level” the playing field with an incremental increase in troop strength.  We need to dedicate ourselves to no longer “Half asssing” our efforts, Two-Thirds-Assing or efforts isn’t much of an improvement!  Our military leaders do not give a shit about what Anti-War Democrats think we ought to do in Afghanistan.  They also don’t give much of a shit what Hawkish Republicans think either… what they do think about is what it will take to accomplish the mission!!! With the least amount of allied casualties!  And usually that equates to overwhelming strength, and actions.

"Under the right circumstances, if we can be confident that military efforts can be sustained and built upon, then I would support the president should he decide to send some additional troops to regain the initiative," Kerry, D-Mass., said.

Oh for the love of Christ!!!  “Under the right circumstances”? and just what exactly are “those circumstances”?… the Taliban realize the errors of their ways and volunteer to lay down their weapons and agree to write a Constitution establishing a republic that recognizes individual’s liberty and rights?  Al Quieda denouncing terrorism and handing over Osama Bin Laden to the Red Cross?  And then…  “to regain the initiative”?  Doesn’t a statement like that make an assumption, we’ve LOST the initiative?

Damn it! We are a Republic! Not a Democracy!

I’ve heard more and more the Mainstream Media and Democrat Politicians continue referring to the United States of America as a Democracy.  We are not a Democracy!  Nowhere in the Declaration of Independence or, more importantly, the Constitution of the United States does the word ‘Democracy’ even appear.  Our Founding Fathers worked their intellectual butts off insuring it did not!  For fear of a very short lived country.

Democracy is simply a rule by the majority.  We are a Republic… “Rule by Law”.  When you begin to understand this you may understand why I am more “Republican” than “Democrat”.  Although unless the Republican Party begins to grow a spine and believe once again in “Limited Government”… and Rule By Law, (I won’t even begin to bang my head against the Democrat Brick Wall asking them to return to the rule of law and constitutional government) I will continue to head more and more toward Libertarianism (with emphasis on ‘Liberty’).

Here’s a pretty decent basic explanation of the various forms of government.

Weekend Thoughts… and Snow

Well this past week provided a bevy of fodder to prove the world is full of fools!  From Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid’s stance against allowing the pending “Health Care Overhaul” bill to be made available for a minimum of 72 hours before OUR elected representatives are to vote on it, allowing WE THE PEOPLE to read and digest the thing and to make our support or lack thereof known… to the selection of the “Anointed One” as recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, I really begin to question the ability of people… all people… to think critically.

I am discouraged by the lack of integrity in people’s actions and decisions.  The continuing culture of arrogance, is becoming quite distasteful.  For Nancy and Harry to block We The People from having reasonable access to the bills that are to influence our lives for the next decade is disgraceful and quite frankly, disrespectful.  As to the loyal opposition’s claim of, “The Republicans blocked a similar transparency petition, when the ‘Patriot Act’ was being voted on…” to me doesn’t even begin to compare.  The Patriot Act involves highly sensitive issues of National Security, and publically exposing all the components of that bill would seriously jeopardize our nations defense.  Can somebody please explain to me how a National Healthcare bill, meets that same criteria?  What in this bill is (or should be) classified, Secret or Top Secret?  NOTHING!!!

For me, if a bill contains no National Security issues, then it absolutely should be made public (and in my mind for a period of much longer than 72 hours) we have every right to see what our representatives are voting on, (including any added ‘Pork’ amendments, and we need to hold them accountable…) before the horse is out of the gate, not after!

Now as for the Nobel Peace Prize being handed to one so deserving as Barack Obama… uh… well… wait, I have some lint in my bellybutton…

Really my “Give-o-shit-o-meter” barely registered a flinch.  Why? you ask.  Well… look here (all winners of this… eh’em “illustrious” award):

  1. Barack Obama (nominated 2 weeks after he assumed the Presidency)
  2. Al Gore (leading cause of CO2 Release… that windbag.  Seriously people… FOLLOW THE MONEY!!!!!)
  3. Jimmy Carter (Mom always said if I can’t say anything nice… nuff said)
  4. United Nations (Oxymoronic Title if ever there was one…)
  5. Yasser Arafat (Terrorists for Peace… = Atheists for God?)

Fundamentally the Nobel Committee will vote for the person or organization who’s desire it is to weaken the strength of “the Great Satin” the United States, and make efforts (or in Barack’s case… read teleprompted words) encouraging the demise of the United States ideals or stature in the world in support of failed socialistic and fascist philosophies.

So I say, hell, let them award it to whomever they like.  Awarding it to people like BHO and Yasser Arafat only serves to lessen the validity of the award, actually it is getting closer to a “Happy Meal Prize" every year.  Really I feel more sorry for previous winners the likes of Mother Theresa and the Dali Lama, REAL Champions for Peace.  Seriously folks do Al Gore, Barack Obama, and Yasser Arafat live to that same standard of character?

I’d Like to Personally Thank the IOC

obamaballoon wt bkgnd I want to thank the members of the International Olympic Committee for exercising some rational thought in the face of overwhelming Pop Culture Pressure

I love that even with the pleas from the “Big O’s” (Obama’s and Oprah) that the world did not add more PSI to an already overinflated egomaniac.  He would be impossible to live with hearing on the Letterman Show about how “HE” went to Copenhagen to seal the deal for Chicago!  

Is Obama’s star fading?  I doubt it, the Mainstream water carriers will not allow him to go super nova, (I’d say “black hole”, but I would be summarily accused of racism)!  But if the IOC had awarded Chicago the 2016 games… seriously… no one in the media would recognize the efforts of thousands of AMERICANS trying to secure that decision, nope all we would hear about is how the impassioned pleas from Michelle and Barak were the lynchpin in the decision.

Why My Friend is a Democrat

A friend of mine and I were having a bit of a political discussion, and he asked me why I was a Republican.

I simply replied, well…

  1. I think individuals make better choices than Government.
  2. I think the Federal Government is here to coordinate not over regulate the States
  3. I think the Feds are here to protect the citizenry from foreign attack.
  4. I think a “Market Economy” is 1,000 times better than a government meddling “Keynesian” style of economics.  Yes companies will fail, and some will make huge profits… my question is why is that ‘Obscene?”
  5. The rich are not the enemy!  They are the fuel for our economy.  Class Envy, like all envy is USELESS and a creation of Democrats who play on the weak willed and soft minded!  Truly the most evil and vile of tactics!
  6. Same holds for Racism… Focusing on a person’s race, does just that… focuses on Race!  Stop!  Oh and yes racism is universal it is not a one way street flowing only from the White Man.
  7. Taxes are destructive not productive!  Look at NYC and California for proof!

I looked at my friend and asked… Why are you a Democrat?

He replied… It’s simple really…

  1. I’m a Democrat because I love the fact that I can now marry whoever I want. I decided to marry my horse.
  2. I’m a Democrat because I believe oil companies’ profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 18% isn’t.
  3. I’m a Democrat because freedom of speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.
  4. I’m a Democrat because I believe that people who can’t tell us if it will rain on Friday can tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don’t start driving a Prius.
  5. I’m a Democrat because when we pull out of Iraq I trust that the bad guys will stop what they’re doing, because they now think we’re good people.
  6. I’m a Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would never get their agendas past the voters.

Come to Denver… The Un-Fun City!

Boy!  Talk about a bitter sweet win for John Hickenlooper, the (Democrat) mayor of Denver Colorado.

Federal agencies are being instructed to NOT hold meetings in “Fun” places like Vegas, Reno, Orlando etc… rather they are being instructed to hold conferences in “more buttoned-down places such as St. Louis, Milwaukee or Denver.”

I’ve been to St. Louis… no offence to those of you who like St. Louis… But your downtown is a frigg’n HOLE!  I haven’t been to Milwaukee so I will not comment.  As for Denver, it is a magnificent city, and a great destination city for conferences and tourism, so if anything I would place Denver on the Banned list!  After all we are only an hour from the greatest skiing on the planet.  We have professional sports teams in Football, Baseball, Basketball, Hockey, Soccer, Lacrosse, and countless other disciplines for your enjoyment!  We serve beer from a multitude of Micro-Breweries as well as the well known Coors Brewery in Golden.  We have 300+ days of sunshine!  We have the dreaded Strip Clubs, And oh my God WORST of all... we just legalized 24/7 gambling in a few of our Mountain Towns (Blackhawk and Central City)… the horror!!!!!

The Department of Justice "decided conference[s] are not to be held in cities that are vacation destinations/ spa/ resort/ gambling," according to a May email from an FBI employee obtained by the U.S. Travel Association and viewed by The Wall Street Journal. "Las Vegas and Orland[o] are the first 2 on the chopping block."

A Department of Justice spokeswoman said, "We do have guidance that says avoid locations and accommodations that give the appearance of being lavish or are resort destinations."

This is getting ridiculous!  Ever since “The Anointed One” said that it was wrong for Publicly held companies to have conferences or attend meetings in places like Las Vegas, critical eyes have been watching the government for similar excursions.

PLEASE!!!!! STOP!!!!!  All of the economy is interdependent.  Cutting back on attending a conference in one city in favor of attending a conference in St. Louis, Denver or Milwaukee all because “we don’t want to give the impression of ‘Having a little fun’ is asinine!   Since when is having a little fun a crime?  Also, I’ll bet money that cities like Reno, Las Vegas, and Orlando are far better equipped to serve large meetings and conferences, not to mention CHEAPER!!!!!  Attendees at these meetings are, yes, tax payer funded Government employees, but I seriously have my doubts that when these individuals “double down” on a 6-5 at the blackjack table, they are using a government check!

The Obama administration continues to expand the recession simply by exacerbating the “Crisis” atmosphere that they need to shove the Democrats’ costly agenda down we the Idiot American Public’s throats!

I am SO much less concerned with where the FBI has a conference and unwinds than I am with a MULTI-Trillion Healthcare Socialization Program getting enacted!

This NANNY STATE mentality has to stop people!!!  THINK!  With freedom comes responsibility!  If you do not want to take responsibility for yourself then yeah… you better be prepared to forfeit your freedom!  Me personally… I’m fine with taking personal responsibility, I absolutely want the government to stop telling us what we can and cannot enjoy… mostly the latter.
