Yesterday was one of those days in my life that will get filed in the PRETTY DAMN COOL File of memorable days...
Ya see, my buddy Stu (one of my best men at my wedding) has been promising that he still owed me a Bachelor Party, as we were unable to really have one prior to my and Ginger's nuptials last year. I know he's be trying to come up with a time and a plan for the last year.. but alas we both have careers and the complexities of getting everyone together for any kind of big party has proven to be a sizable pain in the ass.
Well Stu, finally resorted to KISS! KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID! and Here's what he came up with!
It started with an e-mail to me... in complete "Stu" fashion:
Okay, unless it changes, here is the rock solid plan, set in jello.
I will leave home at approximately 12:01 pm and proceed directly to one Carmichael residence, confirming departure while in route.
Arrival at said Carmichael residence at approximately 12:23 pm will proceed with door knocking, residence entering and harassment therein.
Hacking sticks will then be transferred from their current location into a Sweet Veeeeeeehicle and we will then depart said residence at approximately 12:42 pm.
We will then proceed directly to Qdoba on Kipling where the two golfers in question will feast on semi-Mexican cuisine and iced teas.
After said grub-fest, at approximately 1:18 pm said golfers/travelers will renter the veeeeeeeehicle and proceed to on the fine establishment of Arrowhead Golf Club.
Once we have achieved our objective, we will proceed with check-in, calisthenics (hit balls, not our own), analgesics (beer?), urination and/or defecation as required.
At approximately 2:19 pm said duffers will cut and light their first fine cigars whilst putting and awaiting the voice from above directing them to number 1.
At this point the plan pretty much falls apart as we chase little white orbs around the country side whilst smoking, laughing, drinking, driving (the only time one can do those together) etc.
Stu
And as much as no plan ever survives first contact... this one pretty much stayed intact!
The two of us headed (as planned) to Arrowhead Golf club, one neither of us had played before despite us having lived in the Denver Area for 10+ years each.
And, WOW! What a course! we reserved our time as a twosome... and amazingly enough remained that way, how cool is that?! We were following a Japanese Tour group that... no kidding... unloaded from a BUS immediately before we got to the course. It promised to be a long round.... It was.... Which actually turned out to be a bit of a blessing. The course is awe inspiring and having an additional 10 minutes on every tee allowed we two to imbibe in the raw beauty that lay in front of us! For your understanding I provide my usual sampling of photos for your enjoyment below, but trust me these do absolutely NOTHING to show the true majesty of this fine golf course.
What?.... our scores?... I shot an 89! Stu?... well let's just say his cost per stroke was lower than mine.
Stu, I cannot thank you enough for a perfect day. Thanks Bro!
grogbowl awaits ye
