Here in Denver we have a mountain… duh… I know… one in particular is named “Lookout Mountain” and it has a number of interesting things about it. First it is the final resting place of one “Buffalo Bill Cody”. On it’s peak is also the Governor’s Mansion along with about 15 high power radio and television station broadcast antennas.
But from it’s scenic drive… wow what a view! I cannot begin to convey with these photos the beauty of the vista presented… doesn’t mean I won’t try.
This first one is pretty much the whole smash… looking east, that’s the just-past-full moon rising over Denver International Airport on the left, Downtown is center-left, and Green Mountain is to the far right. (yes as always, click for larger… this one you’re gunna need it).
These next couple are a little more detailed points of the view…
The above image is of Downtown Denver, that’s Colfax Avenue (the United States longest continuous street) and Mile High Stadium in the foreground with the lights on… excuse me, “INVESCO Field at Mile High”… Hell, one is out of breath just saying the name.
And finally, looking to the West, toward the final fading twilight of the long ago set sun, we had the opportunity to see the big dipper in all it’s bright glory. (Sorry for the graininess of these last two images, in order to take a shot like this I had to jack the ISO up to 400… My understanding is that the "Nikon D3s"doesn’t suffer this problem as bad as my D80 does… contributions graciously accepted!)
Have a good weekend all… I’m going to be nose down finishing up any number of reports I have to complete prior to my client visits all next week back in the ‘Center of the Universe’.
